The Abdulhafiz Umar Gusau Foundation has sponsored the JAMB registration of 200 students drawn from all 14 Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, expanding access to tertiary education for young people across the state.
The initiative formed part of the Foundation’s continuing commitment to education, youth development and opportunity creation for students who may otherwise struggle to meet the cost of examination registration.
Rather than concentrating the intervention in a single community, beneficiaries were selected from across Zamfara State, with coordination and monitoring supported through traditional and community structures.
The programme builds on earlier educational interventions by the Foundation, including scholarships, school-fee assistance, examination support and registration sponsorship for students attending institutions within and outside Zamfara.
Founder Abdulhafiz Umar Barau has consistently positioned education as an important part of the Foundation’s wider humanitarian work, alongside healthcare assistance, poverty alleviation, women and youth empowerment, housing support, food relief and community infrastructure.
Through interventions such as the JAMB sponsorship programme, the Foundation aims to remove practical barriers that can prevent capable young people from continuing their education.
The 200-student programme also reflects the Foundation’s growing statewide approach, with humanitarian and community-development activities reaching communities across Gusau, Tsafe, Bungudu, Maru, Talata Mafara, Birnin Magaji, Shinkafi, Dansadau, Kwatarkwashi and other parts of Zamfara State.
For the beneficiaries, the support represents more than the payment of an examination fee. It provides an opportunity to take the next step toward tertiary education and the possibilities that can come with it.
